Thirteen Months: 13 Female Authors of Contemporary Spanish-Language Poetry

At Demipage, we believe in poetry and this necessarily means not establishing a closed literary canon. To do so would be antipoetic. In this anthology, our intention is clear and simple: to offer a brief sample of the literary quality of thirteen current female authors in the Spanish language. Through five poems from each author, we invite the reader to explore and delve into the style and themes of each poet. We do not deny the existence of other valuable authors not included in this book, but instead we affirm the value of all of them. After centuries of obscurantism and exclusion, women have finally been able to expand our poetic sensibility. They break with the canon, break with marginalization, and break the limits of the old calendars: they bring years of thirteen months. The sample collected in this anthology is not uniform. There is literature of various aesthetics. Surrealism, free sensuality, exuberance, reflection, or minimalism. Everything fits within these pages.
