"Animales de Vidrio" is my poetry book, the 18th volume in the "Las 4 Estaciones" collection. It has been a very interesting journey, opening new doors for young writers. No young writer had ever been published by them before me. No one as unknown as me had ever published with them, which is both intimidating and honor-inducing. Other authors published in this collection include Rafael Pérez Estrada, Manuel Altoaguirre, María Zambrano, Antonio Soler, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, Maria Victoria Atencia, and Vicente Aleixandre.
I grew up with these books and still have the first volume of the collection, an anthology entitled "El poeta canta por todos" by Vicente Aleixandre. I will forever be grateful and amazed by this. Layla Martínez wrote the foreword, which always makes me smile and blush every time I read it, showcasing her exceptional talent as a writer. This fills me with a great sense of responsibility.
After initially feeling unworthy of this collection, I used this as a way to share my happiness with other young writers. With the Foundation's desire to introduce more young writers, I was given complete freedom to design an anthology. I believe that "Réquiem por Lolita" is a great edition. With a pocket size design, it is perfect for readers on-the-go. It is priced at an almost symbolic 5 euros (now available at 4.11 euros, take advantage!).
The anthology includes works from Alberto Arias Pereira, Juan Bello, Ana Castro, Ben Clark, Vanity Dust, Berta García Faet, David Leo, Layla Martínez, Sandra Martínez, Elena Medel, David Refoyo, Emily Roberts, Laura Rosal, María Sánchez, Jorge Segarra, Paloma Peñarrubia Ruiz, María Ramos, Roger Vilanova Jou, Unai Velasco, and myself. These poets have been chosen not because of their well-known careers or my friendship with them, but because they inspired me selfishly. Their work speaks through me, expressing what I want to convey. They all describe the complexities of contemporary life in different ways. They offer a filter of beauty to make any act, whether horrible or beautiful, seem equivalent. Whether it's subtle criticism, irony, or raw language hiding deep sensitivity, their words provide a non-judgmental meditation.
I won't say more, just tempt you. It has been a pleasure to work with them and to open new doors for such a traditional publishing house, witnessing its transformation. It has been a pleasure to do this with their poems. Thank you. (Almudena Vega, http://ladisonanciadelospajaros.blogs...)
